V Foundation for Cancer Research & Awareness, media relations and strategy
Critical Task
To help a national charitable organization raise awareness and interest in its annual West Coast fundraiser.
My Solution
To reach local influencers and key decision-makers within the target audience community, I built a customized communications plan to:
- Raise the visibility of the founders and executive leadership
- Ensure consistent messaging
- Build community and media awareness
- Drive attendance and sponsorships/donations
How I Delivered
I worked directly with local and national press contacts, provided leadership to the client’s internal communications team, served as a resource to executive management, and developed the messages for numerous press interviews.
Results
More media placements than the client had achieved in previous years–– San Jose Mercury News,(Knight Ridder), San Francisco Chronicle, Nob Hill Gazette, Wine Spectator, Napa Valley Register, Underground Wine Journal, KFOG Radio and Wine Radio Network.
In addition, through my efforts, the V Foundation fostered a long-term strategic relationship with KNBR AM, the Bay Area’s leading sports radio station.
